The Jubilate Deo Chorale & Orchestra has established an Educational Outreach Committee that consists of certified music educators from both the Chorale and Orchestra divisions.

One purpose of the committee is to interact with school students, through: Artists, In-Residents seminars/workshops; music assemblies; school-group attendance at dress rehearsals (a behind-the-scenes experience of a musical and dramatic production); student participation and membership in concert events; and long-term goal - a memorial music scholarship awarded annually to a senior high school student member who is pursuing a college education in the area of music. A panel of five adjudicators from the committee select students on the basis of their skills of intonation, rhythm, phrasing, articulation, choral blending and overall musicianship. Audition requirements consist of a performance of two diatonic scales and one chromatic scale, a required solo, and a required quartet.

Another purpose of the Educational Outreach Committee is to provide music lesson plans for all educators. The lesson plans will correlate with the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards, and are available on this Web site.

Local High School Vocalists Perform With Jubilate Deo Chorale and Orchestra

In 2006, five area students performed with the Jubilate Deo Chorale and Orchestra in their annual Christmas Concert. The High School Vocalists are: Lindsey Petrosh - St. Joseph's High School, Lauren Berchtold - Absegami High School, Elizabeth Higgins and Rebecca Geisenhofer - St. Joseph's High School, and Jacquelyn Kenney - who is home schooled. The concert was performed on December 17, 2006 at the Commerce Bank Performing Arts Center in Sewell, New Jersey. Under the direction of Dr. Ron Matthews, Choral and Orchestra Director, and Msgr. Louis A. Marucci, Executive Director, the students were awarded the opportunity to perform with the semi-professional chorus and professional orchestra through the High School Educational Outreach Program. These outstanding vocalists are well known in their respective high schools and church choral groups. This year the Christmas concert entitled "The Splendor of Christmas" will be held on December 16, 2006 at the Commerce Bank Performing Arts Center.

Local High School Vocalists Perform With Jubilate Deo Chorale and Orchestra

Six area youth performed recently with the Jubilate Deo Chorale and Orchestra in their annual Christmas Concert. The High School Vocalists are: Courtney Coats – West Deptford HS; Lindsay Grajewski – Buena Regional HS; Alex Konrady – Absegami HS; Kaitlin Davis – Sacred Heart HS; Marina Marx and Donna Shuler – Oakcrest HS.

The concert was performed on December 11 and 12, at the Commerce Bank Performing Arts Center, Sewell, NJ. Under the direction of Dr. Ron Matthews, Choral and Orchestra Director, and Msgr. Louis A. Marucci, Executive Director, the students were awarded the opportunity to perform with the semi-professional chorus and professional orchestra through the High School Educational Outreach program.

These students auditioned for the chorus in October. They needed recommendations from their high school choral directors or church choral directors, and their school principals. Each student went through an intense audition process of sight-reading music, and singing scales, as well as performing a required solo, a required quartet, and a solo of his/her choice in front of a panel of six music educators who are members of the JDCO Chorale.

These outstanding vocalists are also well known in their respective high school and church choral groups. Most are members of South Jersey Chorus and All State Chorus or All State Womens’ Chorus. Many of them are equally involved in their school drama productions, as well as concert and marching bands.

The next concert will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2005.

Area High School Vocalists Join The Jubilate Deo Chorale and Orchestra

Nine area high school vocalists were accepted as the 2002-03 youth members of the Jubilate Deo Chorale and Orchestra. The young vocalists auditioned in front of a panel of music educators who represent the Educational Outreach Program of the Jubilate Deo Chorale and Orchestra.

Jeana Krasowski, soprano, Daniel Testa, tenor, Adam Higinbotham, bass, and Melanie Briggs, alto, all attend Sacred Heart High School, Vineland. Marissa Hines, alto, and Bryan Thomas, tenor, attend Oakcrest High School in Mays Landing. Alyssa Phillips, alto, attends Lenape Regional High School, Jillian Giblin, alto, attends Haddon Township High School, Melissa Coats, soprano, attends West Deptford High School.

The high school students will make their debut performance on the weekend of September 14th and 15th, with performances located at the Washington Township Center for the Performing Arts in Sewell, NJ (Sept. 14th) and Carnegie Hall, New York City (Sept. 15th).

The concert entitled Rekindle the Flame: Remembering 9-11 is a patriotic/memorial concert to honor the heroes of September 11th and all those who have served our country. Msgr. Louis A. Marucci of the Camden Diocese is the executive director of the JDCO with Dr. Ron Matthews of Eastern University as the conductor of both the chorale and orchestra.
